Colts Agree to Trade Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks for Two Picks
Seattle sends a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth for the eight-time Pro Bowl guard, who is in the last year of his contract. The trade deadline is November 10.
The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to trade guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2028 fifth-rounder, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. The deal had not been officially announced by the teams when this was published.
Nelson, 30, has made the Pro Bowl in each of his eight full seasons since the Colts drafted him sixth overall out of Notre Dame in 2018, with three first-team All-Pro selections, ESPN reports. He is in the final year of the four-year, $80 million extension he signed in 2022 and did not reach a new deal before this season; Seattle takes on the rest of his 2026 salary, and he can become a free agent in March.
The Colts are 2-5 after Sunday's 16-10 loss in Minnesota and fired general manager Chris Ballard last week; interim general manager Ed Dodds, who worked for the Seahawks from 2007 to 2016, made the deal. The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks are 4-3. Nelson has played only left guard in the NFL, where Seattle starts 2025 first-round pick Grey Zabel, so one of them may move. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10.
