Nick Suzuki Out Two to Four Weeks, Ending a 546-Game Streak

The Canadiens captain blocked a shot with his hand against San Jose. He will miss Sunday's Heritage Classic in Winnipeg.

Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki will be out two to four weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced Thursday. He was hurt blocking a shot with his hand late in Montreal's 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks.

The injury ends a streak that ran his whole career: Suzuki had never missed an NHL game, and his iron-man run stops at 546 games, Sportsnet's Eric Engels reported. It was the second-longest active streak in the league.

The timing is hard on Montreal. The Canadiens, 4-3-2 and already without forward Ivan Demidov for much of the season, play the Jets outdoors in the Heritage Classic in Winnipeg on Sunday, October 25, without their captain.

Vasilevskiy Passes Vanbiesbrouck for 19th in NHL Wins

Andrei Vasilevskiy earned his 375th regular-season win as Tampa Bay beat Vegas 6-2 on Tuesday, moving past John Vanbiesbrouck into 19th on the NHL's all-time list. He got there in 605 games; each of the 18 goalies ahead of him needed at least 735, InGoal Magazine notes. Nikita Kucherov's three points in the game tied Steven Stamkos's franchise record of 1,137.
