Caleb Williams Outduels Drake Maye as Bears Beat Patriots 30-24
Williams threw for 308 yards on Thursday Night Football, and Chicago held on after a late New England field goal. The Bears are 5-2; the Patriots fall to 4-3.
The Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 30-24 at Soldier Field on Thursday night to open Week 7, in a meeting of two quarterbacks from the 2024 draft class. Caleb Williams, taken first overall that year, threw for 308 yards, and Rome Odunze's recovery sealed it after a Patriots field goal made it a six-point game with 37 seconds left, CBS Sports reported.
The Bears jumped out 10-0 in the first quarter: Williams hit Luther Burden for 58 yards, and D'Andre Swift ran in from 4 on the next play. Drake Maye answered with a 6-yard touchdown run before halftime and later found rookie tight end Eli Raridon for a 30-yard score, part of a back-and-forth second half, according to FOX Sports.
Chicago moves to 5-2. New England, last season's AFC champion and Super Bowl runner-up, falls to 4-3 and 1-3 on the road. The rest of Week 7 is Sunday and Monday.
