NCAA Finds Tampering Violations in Ole Miss Men's Basketball
A Division I Committee on Infractions panel found that former Ole Miss men's basketball assistant Wes Flanigan had impermissible recruiting conversations, 16 phone calls and 10 text messages, with the advisor of a player at another school who had not entered the transfer portal, according to an agreement the NCAA released Friday. Head coach Chris Beard is responsible for the violations but received no penalty because the panel found he was unaware and promoted compliance. The school also failed to monitor its program by not disassociating a booster as required by a 2017 infractions decision. The player later entered the portal but did not visit Ole Miss or receive an offer.
