World Series Game 1 Tonight, Likely Under a Closed Roof

First pitch is 8 p.m. Eastern on FOX in Milwaukee, where about 60 degrees is forecast. Both ballparks have quirky roof rules that have already decided one game this October.

The World Series opens tonight, Friday, October 23, at American Family Field in Milwaukee, at 8 p.m. Eastern on FOX and FOX Deportes, streaming on FOX One. With the temperature expected to be around 60 degrees at first pitch for Games 1 and 2, according to the National Weather Service, the Brewers' retractable roof will probably be closed, MLB.com reports. Fans can check its status on the ballpark's roof hotline, 414-902-4636.

Games 3 and 4, and Game 5 if needed, are at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, where the roof is fixed and the catwalks hanging under it come with their own ground rules for balls that hit them.

The roofs have mattered already. In Game 1 of the Division Series, Milwaukee beat San Diego 3-2 after Ty France's potential go-ahead home run in the ninth inning hit a roof cable or support high over left field and came down into Jackson Chourio's glove for an out.

Drew Rasmussen is expected to start Game 1 for the Rays and Jacob Misiorowski for the Brewers. Neither franchise has won a World Series; our postseason page has the full schedule and will add each result.
